FSU Art Professor, John Mann, showed new photographic work at the Villa Noailles during the Hyeres Festival of Fashion and Photography.  The festival was held in Hyeres, France running from April 26- May 26, 2013.

The Hollywood Reporter has named FSU/Asolo Conservatory one of the top 25 drama schools in the World! MFA candidates get tuition waivers and experience at the Asolo Theater, the biggest in the Southeast. 

Visiting artist Judy Rushin arrived at the Facility for Arts Research (FAR) May 28, 2013 to begin work on her project, Variance/Invariance (working title).

Recent Interior Design MFA graduate Tony Purvis has been awarded two prominent awards in design. Purvis has been selected as the recipient of the 2013 American Society of Interior Designer’s (ASID) Joel Polsky Academic Achievement Award and the 2013 Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA) Student Paper Award.

Works in this exhibition trace artistic legacy – from family member to family member, from teacher to student, from the 1st generation of an art movement to the 2nd  generation, and from a specific culture (Native American, for example) to the culture at large.

The College of Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance wishes to recognize Jawole Willa Jo Zollar from the School of Dance for receiving the Doris Duke Artist Award.

Peter Weishar has been appointed dean of Florida State University’s College of Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance, effective July 1, 2013.

On Wednesday, April 10, 2013, the College of Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance held our Annual College Awards Ceremony.

The College of Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance wishes to congratulate six outstanding individuals for receiving grants from the Council of Research and Creativity (CRC).  Jack Freiberg, Department of Art History, Carolyn Henne, Carrie Ann Jones-Baade, Mary Stewart and Owen Mundy, Department of Art, and Krzysztof Salata, School of Theatre.

BA Theatre graduate Alicia Richardson, class of 2009, has recently been awarded the Fulbright Scholarship to study at York University in the fall. Richardson will be working toward an MFA in Acting with a Concurrent Voice Teacher Diploma, which will culminate in the performance of an original piece.

The DesignIntelligence magazine released its ratings of “America’s Best Architectural and Design School 2013″ rankings. The graduate programs of the Department of Interior Design at FSU are rated number one for the most admired program in the country in a survey of 122 deans and department chairs.
